LA SPEZIERIA DELLA SCALA in Trastevere. ANCIENT EXCLUSIVE VISIT TO THE PHARMACY OF THE POPES
Thanks to a special permit, we will visit the Ancient Pharmacy of Santa Maria della Scala, located on the first floor of the Convent of the Discalced Carmelites, and established for the needs of the friars who cultivated medicinal plants in their own garden. At the end of the seventeenth century it was open to all and nicknamed the “pharmacy of the popes” because princes, cardinals and the doctors of the popes also used it.
